Through Twitter, I learned of the story of Darby (@darbytheGSD), a dog who was “orphaned” in a kennel after her owner died while on vacation.

She is currently in a kennel in Portland, Oregon. Thanks to Shonali Burke (@Shonali), a PR pro determined to put social media work in finding a home for Darby, the word is getting out!

PetRelocation.com, who I featured here, has offered to transport Darby to a forever home anywhere in the US if a Portland Oregon home can’t be found. Wow! How cool is that?

Read the full story and stay up to date with Darby’s story on Shonali’s blog.

Darby was even featured on Portland news station KOIN, who picked up Darby’s story via Megan Drake’s article on Examiner.com.

This story had me thinking…

The circumstances of Darby’s situation had me thinking “what if” about my own pets.
I wrote about Pet Care Planning here.
