postheadericon FDA Pet Safety Alert Widget

I attended a pet blogger webinar hosted by the FDA today. They introduced a new widget – a piece of code that you can add to any blog or web site – that will automatically update with food and drug recall information and general pet health alerts.

This is a very new project, but one they hope to utilize for streamlining important health and recall information for pets and for people. They mentioned the importance of “transparency” more than once during the webinar.

I will also be summarizing this on tomorrow’s About.com Veterinary Medicine site blog post. For now, you can get the code here.

Here is the widget in action. I have also installed this widget in the sidebar under “Favorite Pet Peeps” in the sidebar.

Pretty slick.
